Job summary

Dollar General Corporation seeks an Assistant Store Manager to maintain a clean, customer-first store and to assist the Store Manager with supervising employees, presenting merchandise, completing paperwork, and processing deposits.

The role includes stocking and cashiering, scheduling and training staff, implementing planograms, managing inventory, and ensuring cash controls and security procedures to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform math calculations and generate reports.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing training for employees, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring policy compliance.
• Follow work processes to manage merchandise, including receiving, stocking, restocking and rotating merchandise on shelves and building displays.
• Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Assist in implementation and maintenance of planograms; ensure merchandise is presented according to established practices and direction.
• Assist in ensuring financial integrity through cashier accountability, cash control procedures; authorize refunds and deposits, count tills, and deposit money.
