Job summary

Safeway is seeking an Assistant Store Director to oversee day-to-day store operations in the absence of the Store Director. You will lead store performance, cash control, inventory, and staff management across departments.

You will supervise front-end operations, forecast sales, manage labor, and ensure safety and compliance. Strong leadership, communication, and retail know-how are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
• Four+ years retail or managerial experience required.
• Retail grocery experience preferred.
• Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Overall management of store operations in the absence of the Store Director.
• Supervise the front end and evaluate front end staff performance.
• Forecast and monitor weekly/daily sales to meet goals.
• Coordinate labor planning to align with sales and budgets.
• Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and company policies.
• Develop and implement store promotion and product placement strategies.
