Job summary

Family Dollar Stores Of Indiana LLC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help with store operations, customer service and team development at our Paoli, Indiana location.

You will support opening/closing, supervise associates, organize merchandise, process directives, protect assets, and maintain clean, welcoming aisles while ensuring policy compliance. This role offers opportunities to lead a busy retail team and contribute to a high-energy, customer-focused store environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform demanding physical tasks.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and any related communications.
• Maintain promotional displays and storefront fixtures.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, safety guidelines, and ensure staff compliance.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain store cleanliness including bathrooms and floors; manage restocking and waste.
• Additional duties as assigned.
