Job summary

Family Dollar in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help with opening/closing, merchandising, payroll and scheduling tasks, and loss prevention.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and a proactive service approach. The position is part-time with responsibilities to maintain a safe, neat store, train associates, and ensure policy compliance while delivering a welcoming customer

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for store-front effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (payroll, scheduling, deposits).
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom per company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets including cash and inventory.
• Ensure adherence to safety guidelines and company policies by all associates.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful store environment.
