Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. You will work under the Store Manager to supervise staff, manage merchandising, handle deposits, and contribute to profitability while safeguarding assets.

Responsibilities include opening/closing, scheduling, safety meetings, stock management, and ensuring planogram compliance. Strong communication and leadership are essential for success in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math and cash handling accurately.
• Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money (as needed).

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow processes to manage merchandise: receiving, stocking, restocking, and displays.
• Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and controls.
• Assist with planogram implementation and merchandise presentation.
• Assist in cashier accountability, cash control, refunds, and deposits; count tills.
• Assist with management of the store in the Store Manager's absence.
