Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to keep a clean, organized store with a customer-first focus. You will help supervise staff, manage merchandise presentation, deposits, and paperwork, and perform stocking and cashier duties to maximize profitability and reduce losses.

You will open/close the store twice weekly, assist with scheduling and training, ensure policy compliance, and maintain accurate inventory while protecting company assets.

Qualifications

• The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent; a year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience are preferred.
• Ability to provide superior customer service leadership and operate the cash register.
• Strong organization, math, and problem-solving skills; ability to read and interpret safety rules and instructions.
• Ability to drive to the bank to deposit money as part of cashier duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees and training; conduct safety meetings and ensure policy compliance.
• Follow work processes to manage merchandise including receiving, stocking, and creating displays.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels, control damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Assist in planogram implementation and merchandise presentation according to standards.
• Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability, cash control procedures, refunds, overrides, tills, and deposits.
• Assist with store operations in the Store Manager's absence.
