Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Wayne & Holmes Co., Inc. in Rittman is seeking a part-time Retail Shift Supervisor to lead daily activities, supervise staff, and ensure a high level of customer service.

You will help open/close the store, manage cash handling, and support the Store and Assistant Manager. This hands-on role requires strong communication, basic math, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior retail or supervisory experience is a plus.
• Strong communication, reading/writing, and basic math skills.

Retail Shift Supervisor (Part Time) - Rittman

About the Role

Goodwill Industries is seeking a dedicated part-time Shift Supervisor in our Rittman Store to help lead our retail team and support the Store and Assistant Manager in the smooth, efficient operation of the store. This hands‑on role involves supervising daily activities, ensuring great customer service, supporting staff, and helping maintain a safe, clean, and productive store environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with opening and closing the store, including handling keys and alarm codes.
• Supervise team members during shifts and ensure compliance with store policies.
• Complete cash handling duties: balance drawers, assign/register tills, and prepare deposits.
• Provide excellent customer service and resolve customer concerns in a professional manner.
• Monitor daily store operations in the absence of the Store or Assistant Manager.
• Perform retail floor duties such as stocking, merchandising, tagging, and processing donations.
• Ensure the store is clean and safe: dusting, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, and other maintenance.
• Report and document incidents or accidents in a timely and accurate manner.
• Assist in meeting store production goals and performance standards.
• Respond effectively in emergency situations and follow company safety procedures.
• Attend all required trainings and store meetings.
• Represent Goodwill's mission and values in all interactions with customers and staff.

Physical Requirements

• Stand for extended periods (2-3 hours or more).
• Lift boxes, bags, and other donations up to 30 lbs. from floor to chest height.
• Bend, stoop, twist, squat, and reach overhead while stocking or merchandising.
• Use equipment such as pricing/tagging guns, tape dispensers, and carts as needed.

What We're Looking For

• Education:High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience:Prior retail or supervisory experience is a plus.
• Skills:Strong communication skills; ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Technology:Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
• Availability:Must be flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Other Requirements:
• Reliable transportation (valid driver's license and proof of insurance preferred).
• Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug/alcohol screen.
