Job summary

Irish Boat Shop, Inc. is hiring a Retail Team Member for Harbor Springs and Charlevoix Ship Stores to deliver excellent customer service, cashiering, and transient dockage assistance. The role emphasizes welcoming customers, answering inquiries, and supporting sales on-site.

You will help keep the shop and docks orderly, handle POS transactions, and learn receiving, transfers, and returns to ensure a smooth customer experience across the harbor locations.

Title: Retail Team Member

Reports to: Retail Store Manager

Location: Harbor Springs and Charlevoix Ship Stores

Purpose: To provide customer service, cashier, and transient dockage services to enhance the customer boating experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow direction and complete appropriate checklists for opening and closing the day


• Answer and route calls correctly and with a customer service focus


• Be the first to welcome customers to the store and answer inquiries


• Actively seek out customers in ship store and offer service


• Maintain high standards of customer service with customers and co-workers


• Assess customer needs and wants while providing assistance and information on product features


• Deep product knowledge and ability to answer questions or find the answers quickly


• Keep the store floor clean, stocked, and organized


• Process point of sale (POS) purchases


• Learn receiving and transfer processes and perform correctly


• Handle returns of merchandise


• Comply with inventory control procedures


• Present a professional appearance at all times in compliance with the Personal Appearance policy


• Answer VHF radio calls


• Process transient dockage reservations


• Assist in tying up boats upon arrival to dock


• Keep docks and pedestals clean and organized


• Assist in keeping showroom clean and organized


• Show initiative to assist where needed


• Be innovative and suggest ways to improve sales


• Contribute to the overall success and appearance of the Ship Store and Marina


• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications And Requirements

• Previous work experience in customer service and handling cash, preferable


• Ability to count cash back to customers without a machine


• Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact positively with people


• A friendly and energetic personality with a customer service focus


• Willingness to learn and be an active team member


• Ability to climb ladders and stairs, to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally, and to get on/off boats of varying sizes


• Ability and willingness to work six days a week seasonally
