Description:

Under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, assists in preparing and distributing medications, managing drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Provides courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors, and staff.

Qualifications for the Pharmacy Technician:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program preferred.
• Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan.
• Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred.
• At least one year of retail pharmacy experience.

Responsibilities of the Pharmacy Technician:

• Prepare, package, and dispense medication orders as requested by physicians or pharmacists, following established policies and procedures.
• Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies.
• Ensure efficient and quality department operations.
• Keep logs, records, and documentation; handle phone calls, pneumatic tube system, and cash transactions.
• Prepare IV admixtures and other sterile products.
• Process medication charges and credits according to policy.
• Perform basic pharmacy computer order entry.
• Participate in training, education, and evaluation of pharmacy students and residents as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
