Under the direction of a Registered Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician assists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and keeping patient records. Provides courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors, and staff.

Employment Details

Qualifications

• Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent
• Preferred: Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician training program or two years of college with emphasis in math, science, or medical fields
• Licensure: Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in Michigan
• Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred, with active status by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
• Must obtain PTCB certification within 6 months of hire
• Minimum two years of pharmacy work experience

Responsibilities

1. Prepare, package, and distribute medication orders as per requests and protocols
2. Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies
3. Contribute to departmental efficiency and quality
4. Maintain logs, records, and documentation
5. Answer telephone calls and handle cash transactions
