Job summary

SpartanNash in Holland, Michigan, is seeking a Department Manager to lead daily department operations in a retail store. You will train associates, ensure full staffing, and align with company standards while meeting KPIs.

Responsibilities include inventory control, order validation, and supervising stocking, production, and product quality tasks. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2 years retail experience, and 1 year supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate (Required) or Equivalent (GED).
• Two years of retail experience preferred.
• One-year supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and bookkeeping skills.
• Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands-on environment.
• Good strategic planning and business acumen skills.
• Good knowledge of retail store operations; knowledge of retail management systems.
• Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Depending on company location, ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Order and maintain inventory in the department and ensure product freshness and quality.
• Review and validate received orders for amount, quality, count or weight, condition, and proper storage.
• Lead a team to complete stocking, production, and other tasks to ensure quality, planning, and rotation.
• Maintain familiarity with products in the department and store; know advertised items and deals.
• Communicate and execute weekly Flight Plan per company expectations.
