Job summary

Family Dollar seeks an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, enhance customer service, and develop the team in a high-energy environment.

You will assist with merchandise flow, inventory and opening/closing tasks, while upholding company standards and safety policies. The role emphasizes leadership, communication, and hands-on problem solving in a busy retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required
• Team-oriented with customer-focused service mindset
• Ability to read and interpret directives and store schematics

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day store operations and activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and answer questions
• Organize and move merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor
• Conduct opening and closing procedures and follow directives
• Maintain promotional displays and store fixtures for effectiveness
• Assist in ordering merchandise, handling damaged goods, and cashier duties
• Protect assets including store cash and ensure safety procedures are followed
• Support Store Manager in training and developing store associates
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming shopping environment
• Perform other duties as assigned
