Job summary

PetSmart's Process Lead (Retail Operations Lead) role focuses on driving operational excellence in our stores through merchandising, inventory management, and pet care operations. You will open/close the store, supervise and develop associates, and uphold safety and organization standards.

The position emphasizes people leadership, merchandising execution, and strong adherence to Policies and Procedures to deliver an outstanding customer and pet care experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail supervisory experience in a customer-focused environment.
• Full-time availability required, flexibility in schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in maintaining a visually appealing store layout.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide sales associates in merchandise handling, training on product knowledge and presentation standards.
• Support associate development through training, onboarding, mentoring, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Delegate and validate completion of daily tasks and lead when acting as leader on duty.
• Address and administer associate concerns and maintain engagement.
• Execute merchandise strategies to optimize sales, including product receiving, placement, displays, and promotions.
• Manage inventory levels, conduct audits, analyze sales trends, and coordinate replenishment and markdowns.
• Operate POS systems, handle cash transactions, and ensure policy compliance.
• Maintain store standards and uphold Policies and Procedures to protect brand integrity.
• Share responsibility for opening and closing procedures and audit cycles.
• Ensure pet care quality, cleanliness, feeding, and health standards for animals in-store.
