Job summary

Kroger Co. Starkville, MS is seeking an experienced Store Manager to oversee daily operations, coach department managers, and ensure exceptional customer service while meeting sales and budgeting targets.

You will analyze performance, implement merchandising plans, control labor costs, and promote a safe, inclusive environment. The role requires hands-on leadership and commitment to Kroger’s values, including working with unions if applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience as department manager, service manager, or equivalent role.
• Experience leading, coaching, and developing associates to achieve customer service and business goals in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Experience using KPIs, metrics, and data insights to identify opportunities and support decisions.
• Proven ability to collaborate across departments and influence others to drive store performance.
• Proven success driving customer experience, sales growth, operational excellence, and talent development.
• Experience managing competing priorities and leading teams through change to achieve objectives.
• Strong track record of independently leading strategies delivering measurable improvements across store performance.

Responsibilities

• Assist store manager and associates in achieving a favorable customer shopping experience.
• Lead teams in planning, implementing and executing merchandising and operating initiatives.
• Develop action plans and communications based on Associate Insight survey results.
• Identify store opportunities and create timely solutions with department heads.
• Model and demand top-tier customer service and resolve issues.
• Manage total store operations in the store manager’s absence.
• Aim to meet or exceed sales, wage, and profit budgets and safety goals.
• Drive sales with department managers to maximize profits and reduce shrink.
• Participate in regular store-level financial discussions on budgets and targets.
• Analyze competitive landscape within district/division and respond accordingly.
• Promote inclusive leadership and apply community engagement initiatives.
• Coordinate with field staff to achieve division merchandising and programs.
