Job summary

WHSmith North America is seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead the delivery of technology projects across our North American retail estate. The role focuses on hands-on delivery in physical store environments, coordinating multiple suppliers, internal IT teams and retail stakeholders.

The position is based in Las Vegas and requires travel across North America. The candidate will manage openings, refurbishments, relocations and closures with strong planning, governance and risk

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering IT projects.
• Retail experience is essential.
• Experience delivering technology into physical stores.
• Experience managing new store openings, store closures and/or refurbishments.
• Experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
• Experience managing third‑party technology vendors.
• Strong understanding of retail IT infrastructure and applications.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead IT projects from requirements and planning through implementation, cutover, handover and closure.
• Manage technology delivery for new store openings, refurbishments, relocations and closures.
• Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, RAID logs, dependencies, milestones and delivery reporting.
• Coordinate internal IT teams, business stakeholders, third-party vendors, contractors and service providers.
• Own the technology readiness plan for store openings and ensure all tech is installed, tested and ready before opening.
• Oversee store decommissioning, including asset recovery and secure disposal where required.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects across geographically dispersed locations.
• Collaborate with Retail Operations, Store Development, Construction, Finance and Loss Prevention to coordinate store delivery.
• Provide clear go/no-go criteria for store launches and ensure smooth handover to support teams.
• Identify risks and issues early and drive resolution.
• Ensure governance and documentation standards are followed.
