Job summary

Eataly Chicago seeks a General Manager of Retail to lead the store’s retail operations, drive profitability, and stay hands-on with products and staff on the shop floor. You will set strategy, analyze financials, and guide front-end and market teams while partnering with store leadership.

The role requires 6+ years in retail management, strong leadership and communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office. Experience with Italian products and wine is a plus; bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of retail or grocery management experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Directs and organizes the store’s retail operations, including Fresh Retail, Dry Retail, and Front End Operations, to maximize profitability.
• Oversees Front End operations, including the Cash Office and overall cash management for the building, ensuring proper cash handling, controls and accountability.
• Develops departmental goals and leads a team of managers.
• Works closely with each manager to understand operational needs and boost interdepartmental collaboration.
• Analyzes financial data and develops strategies around pricing, merchandising and promotions.
• Manages merchandise and creates product lists, identifying roll-outs and phase-outs of products.
• Prepares weekly updates on the retail department for senior leadership.
• Assists with employee hiring, assignment, training, payroll, scheduling, evaluations and terminations.
• Documents, investigates and resolves employee and guest incidents.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned
