Job summary

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is seeking a hands-on Supervisor, Retail Food Operations to lead daily retail food-service activities at the main campus. You will supervise staff, ensure high standards of hospitality, food quality, safety, and efficiency, and coordinate inventory and cash-handling duties.

The role requires an associate degree or vocational training in relevant field, 2–4 years of experience, and ServSafe certification.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or vocational training in Nutrition, Food Service Management, Culinary Arts, or related area.
• 2–4 years of relevant food-service or retail operations experience.
• ServSafe certification required.
• Food Handler certification preferred.
• Experience supervising, training, or directing food-service staff.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of employees across assigned retail food-service areas.
• Assist with interviewing, onboarding, training, coaching, and evaluating staff.
• Prepare schedules and adjust daily assignments based on operational and staffing needs.
• Coordinate service during busy periods and provide hands-on assistance when needed.
• Ensure retail areas open, close, and transition between meal periods according to schedule.
• Monitor food quality, presentation, portioning, temperature, and availability.
• Oversee receiving, requisitioning, inventory, rotation, and proper storage of food and supplies.
• Ensure items are labeled, dated, and rotated per guidelines.
• Maintain sanitation, safety, and accurate documentation.
