Job summary

Ashley Furniture Industries seeks an Outside Service Technician based in Daytona Beach, FL or Gainesville, FL to repair case goods, leather, and upholstery. You will perform minor repairs at customer sites, ensure quality restoration, and maintain a world-class service standard through effective communication with customers and team members.

You will inspect damage, determine repair feasibility, and collaborate with warehouse staff for touch-ups while keeping tools and work areas clean and safe

Qualifications

• Must pay close attention to detail when inspecting repairs.
• Ability to work independently or in a team on multiple repairs.
• Experience with document management systems is a plus.
• Maintain a clean driving record for site visits and pickups.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess damages.
• Demonstrates continuous improvement in repair techniques.

Responsibilities

• Repair case goods, leather, and upholstery with minimal guidance.
• Perform minor repairs and refinishing as needed.
• Inspect damaged products and determine if repair returns to like-new condition.
• Coordinate with warehouse staff on touch-up techniques during inspection.
• Report when repairs cannot be completed; assist other technicians.
• Ensure safe, orderly work areas and tool maintenance.

Summary

The Outside Service Technician role is primarily responsible for the repair of case goods, leather, and upholstery furniture. You will be completing minor furniture repairs on all types of product damage, including handling or damage that may occur with furniture purchased in customers’ homes. It is critical to have a customer centric mindset as your service is direct to the customer and our goal is to always give our customers a world class experience.

Primary Job Functions

• Repairs with little guidance on all product types.
• Completes all repair types of entry level with additional skills requirements.
• Performs minor repair on top of surface of case pieces and tables.
• Performs solid color paper/side refinishes.
• Performs small corner damages that requires rebuild.
• Has general understanding of spray booth set up and use.
• Performs advance replacement part repairs.
• Communicates any maintenance of tools, parts and hardware needed as well as keeping repair area/shop clean.
• Help to inspect damaged products and conveys if it can be repaired to like new conditions.
• Works with warehouse personnel on techniques of minor touch up on products during the inspection process.
• Documents and follows through on recurring product damages.
• Assist other technicians.
• Accurately reports situations that occur when repairs cannot be completed.
• Must be able to assess damages to determine the most efficient way to repair them.
• Identifies damage, loss or surplus of goods and materials stored in the warehouse.

• Comply with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
• Maintains proper safety usage of all products that are used within the department.
