Job summary

Meijer is seeking a General Merchandise Dept Manager to lead a team within the store, focusing on engagement, coaching and development. You will drive recognition, performance management and succession planning, while directing area operations and financials.

You will work with Leads and Team Leaders to ensure compliant, efficient store performance and customer service excellence. This role emphasizes safety, training, and process improvements to enhance store results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members with clear direction.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information for informed decisions.
• Commitment to safe working practices and compliance.
• Strong merchandising knowledge and market awareness.
• Proactive and innovative mindset to drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Engage with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development.
• Identify talent and support career discussions for staffing and leadership roles.
• Conduct candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth.
• Oversee area operations and financial results, managing budgets and P&L elements.
• Drive safety, compliance and store condition management.
• Guide Leads with daily tasks and training needs.
