Job summary

Meijer is seeking a General Merchandise Dept Manager at our Commerce MI Store location. You will lead team members, drive coaching and development, manage staffing, and oversee operations and budget responsibilities to maximize sales and productivity.

The role emphasizes safety, compliance, and implementing process improvements while upholding Meijer’s culture and customer-first approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members to provide clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information to make informed decisions.
• Ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Participates in candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth within the organization.
• Oversees area operations and financial results by executing corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity, owning budget line items in the P&L.
• Drives safety and compliance, and manages store conditions and adherence to procedures.
• Guides Leads and Team Leaders in daily work assignments and training needs.
