Job summary

Navy Exchange Service Command in Goose Creek, SC seeks a Customer Service Clerk (MAIN) to perform a variety of customer service duties within the NEX. You will greet customers, handle transactions, process layaway orders, refunds and exchanges, and assist with account services while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

The role involves maintaining knowledge of store policies, supporting the sales team, and handling daily cash register operations with accuracy and professionalism.

Qualifications

• 1 year responsible experience in clerical office or retail sales store work.
• Study completed in a college/university or junior college above high school level may be substituted for 6 months of experience.

Responsibilities

• Greets and provides specialized services to customers.
• Performs transactions quickly, efficiently and professionally.
• Provides layaway services and explains policies.
• Processes refunds, exchanges and price adjustments per policy.
• Takes and places customer special orders and follows up with buyers/vendors.
• Monitors rain checks, tracks orders and arranges pickup/delivery.
• Assists customers with opening NEXCARD accounts and payments.
• Becomes knowledgeable in NEX store policies and resolves problems.
• Interacts with customers and coworkers in a friendly, professional manner.
• Communicates information to customers and follows up on commitments.
• Reviews stock assortments and communicates needs to supervisor/manager.
• Performs various cash register transactions accurately.
