Job Profile Summary

The Team Leader, Food and Nutrition Services, leads and supervises Food and Nutrition Service activities and the work of food servers, dish machine operators, food handlers, cashiers, caterers, and clinical aides, following established policies and procedures.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assigns personnel to ensure all essential tray line, cafeteria, patient service, and sanitation positions are covered with properly trained staff.
  2. Addresses staffing shortages efficiently within established guidelines.
  3. Documents absences, performance issues, and other relevant staff information.
  4. Monitors staff performance and addresses issues proactively.
  5. Understands department policies and procedures; recommends corrective actions when needed.
  6. Completes pre-service checklists to ensure equipment functionality, food temperature compliance, and adequate station stock.
  7. Prepares, presents, portions, and labels special orders and diet items; approves substitutions as necessary.
  8. Oversees meal service to ensure food quality, presentation, and timely delivery; manages unacceptable food return process.
  9. Ensures cleanliness and sanitation of tray line and cafeteria stations before and after shifts.
  10. Coordinates dish and utensil cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking for meal services.
  11. Manages special orders and dietary accommodations, ensuring accuracy and proper labeling.
  12. Monitors meal service quality and resolves issues promptly.
  13. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of service areas.
  14. Assists with offsite catering deliveries.
Physical and Sensory Requirements

Walking up to 7 hours, sitting up to 1 hour, standing up to 1.5 hours; handling, twisting, lifting (1-50 lb.), carrying, pushing, pulling; occasional stooping, bending, climbing, reaching. Hearing normal conversation and having general, far, and peripheral vision are required.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent preferred; effective communication in English required.

Training and Experience

Previous supervisory experience in food service preferred but not required.
