Job summary

The Cleveland History Center Museum Store is seeking a part-time Retail Associate to join the sales team. You will handle front-line sales, assist visitors, manage memberships and admissions, and ensure merchandise is well presented and profitable.

You will work with the Sales Manager, open and close the store, process transactions, help guests with exhibits, and participate in special events while upholding core values of integrity and service.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of retail experience serving the public.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with clear communication.
• Ability to walk/stand for long periods and embody core values (integrity, stewardship, connectivity, innovation).

Responsibilities

• Greet every guest as they enter the store and provide friendly assistance.
• Open and close store/admissions as trained and record transactions on the POS system.
• Maintain merchandise presentation and stock levels through spot inventory checks.
• Assist customers with merchandise selections and information on exhibits and events.
• Promote and sell memberships; fill mail, web, and phone orders.
• Keep store area clean and stocked; support inventory processes.
• Coordinate with Sales Manager on daily store and admissions operations.
• Participate in special events and contribute to revenue-generating initiatives.

About This Position

Retail Associate, Cleveland History Center Museum Store

RESPONSIBILITY

Responsible to the Sales Manager for the operations of the retail store including front line sales and customer service, membership and admission, merchandise presentation, and profitability.

Providing competent and adequate coverage for the Museum Store and Admissions Desk, including opening and closing responsibilities.

CLASSIFICATION

Part-time; non-exempt from overtime compensation

COORDINATION

Coordinates with the Sales Manager to carry out daily store and admissions operations.

Duties

• Greet every guest as they enter the store
• Open and close store/admissions as trained
• Accurately record all transactions on the point-of-sale system
• Keep Sales Manager apprised of merchandise stock levels through spot inventory checks
• Assist customers with merchandise selections and/or information on exhibits and events
• Promote and sell memberships
• Fill mail, web, and phone orders
• Keep store area clean and stocked
• Assist with physical inventory
• Maintain Core Performance Standards:
• Commit to a regular schedule
• Follow dress code and other codes of conduct as explained in the WRHS employee handbook
• Effectively communicate and assist, as needed, with special events
• Stay alert at all times to prevent damage and theft
• Support income generation initiatives by identifying and recommending programs and activities based on the strengths of the department that will contribute to the financial success of WRHS.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• previous retail experience working with the public - minimum one year.
• Job-related skills include, but are not limited to, interpersonal and customer service skills, interest in sales work, ability to communicate clearly and effectively
• Ability to walk/stand for long periods of time
