Job summary

Dollar Tree is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in Merrillville, IN to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help with merchandising, opening/closing, and ensuring policies are followed.

The role requires strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and a customer-focused mindset in a fast-paced retail environment. This is a full-time, on-site position with benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing and pulling.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Process corporate directives related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits) and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Ensure store cleanlines and restocking of bathrooms, floors, trash removal, and neat presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
