Job summary

The Assistant Manager acts as shift supervisor in the Store Manager’s absence and is trained in key responsibilities, with emphasis on merchandising, inventory control, and staff development.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail environment, footwear and athletic apparel preferred.
• 1–3 years of customer service experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Assist Store Manager in recruiting, training and evaluating staff.
• Self-starter with initiative to take on tasks.
• Strong attention to detail; manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager in controlling store assets.
• Help establish action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering and scheduling.
• Serve as acting supervisor in absence of Store Manager.
• Assist with personnel recruiting, training and evaluation.
• Provide knowledge to employees and customers across departments.
• Monitor inventory, sales statistics and expenses to ensure profitability.
• Direct staff to meet department responsibilities and standards.
• Maintain customer service excellence as per manuals.
