Job summary

Big Lots is seeking motivated individuals to support our Stores as we provide essential products at great values to the communities we serve. As an Assistant Manager/Key Carrier you will help deliver outstanding customer service and assist the Store Manager in the overall operation of the store to achieve company goals.

Qualifications

• Prefer prior retail and management experience.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Able to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Available for flexible, part-time schedule including weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring, training and development of store team members.
• Support store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Open and close procedures in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Maintain store and stockroom to company standards including recovery.
• Direct hourly Team Members when the Store Manager is away.
• Process SSC Corporate directives.
• Assist with receipt and return of DSD merchandise.
• Manage freight flow and stocking needs.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards.
• Plan and implement directives from the Store Operations Weekly Bulletin.
