Job summary

Big Lots, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Manager/Key Carrier to deliver excellent customer service and support the Store Manager in daily operations.

This role involves leading store team members, opening/closing procedures, safeguarding assets, and keeping the sales floor organized and productive. A flexible schedule including weekends is required.

Qualifications

• Retail management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager.
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day activities per Store Manager guidance.
• Open and close procedures when the Store Manager is unavailable.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including cash.
• Follow policies, safety guidelines and maintain a professional environment.
• Maintain all store areas to company standards, including stockroom and sales floor.
• Direct hourly Team Members in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Process SSC Corporate directives and merchandise receipts/returns.
• Assist with freight flow management and stock replenishment.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards and ensure sales floor is effective daily.

Summary

As a Big Lots Assistant Manager/Key Carrier you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to our customers and supporting the Store Manager with the overall operation of the store to achieve company deliverables.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with the hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day store activities as directed by the Store Manager
• Able to perform all opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager
• Assist the Store Manager in protecting and securing all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures including safety guidelines.
• Maintain a professional and friendly environment with customers, subordinates, and supervisors.
• Maintain all areas of the store, including the stockroom and sales floor, to company standards to include recovery.
• When the Store Manager is not on the premises, direct supervisory responsibility for all hourly Team Members
• Process all SSC Corporate directives
• Assist the Store Manager on the receipt and return of DSD merchandise
• Assist Store Manager in the management of freight flow
• Meet or exceed productivity standards
• Assist the Store Manager in ordering and stocking all merchandise needs
• Assist the Store Manager in maintaining stockroom organization
• Assist the Store Manager in ensuring that the sales floor is sales effective daily
• Assist the Store Manager in planning and implementing all directives in the Store Operations Weekly Bulletin

Qualifications

• Prefer prior retail and management experience.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and written skills
• Ability to lift, bend and transport merchandise weighing up to 50lbs from floor level to above shoulder height; must be able to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, twisting, pulling, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work in a high energy, team environment.
• Ability to work flexible, full-time schedule or part-time to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
