Job summary

Hibbett I City Gear in Athens, Texas is seeking an Assistant Manager in the Operations department. This non-exempt hourly role reports to the Store Manager and helps oversee daily store operations, customer service, merchandising, scheduling, and training in partnership with the Store Manager.

You will stand in for the Store Manager during absences, assist in controlling assets, driving sales, restocking, and promoting merchandise.

Qualifications

• Experience in a retail environment, preferably footwear and athletic apparel.
• 1–3 years of customer service experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to assist in managing a team and meet goals and profits.
• Self-starter with initiative.
• Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking.
• Team-player with passion for outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager in selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
• Assists in establishing action plans to accomplish departmental and store responsibilities and goals.
• Occasionally stand in for the Store Manager in their absence.
• Participates in recruiting, training, and evaluating store personnel.
• Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments.
• Monitor inventory, sales statistics and expenses to support profitability.
• Direct staff to ensure each department's responsibilities are completed.
• Maintain communication with Store Manager on inventory movement and trends.
• Ensure outstanding customer service is delivered per company standards.
