Job summary

JCPenney is seeking an Asset Protection professional to observe for theft and fraud, collect evidence, and conduct investigations across stores. You will interview customers and contractors, report incidents to AP leadership, and document outcomes and recovered merchandise.

The role requires high school diploma and 1+ years in retail or AP, with travel to stores as needed. You may participate in court proceedings and coordinate with local law enforcement.

Qualifications

• > 1+ years retail work experience or Asset Protection/Security or equivalent leadership experience/education preferred.
• “High School diploma or equivalent work experience; AA/BA/BS in Criminal Justice or Business Management preferred.”

Responsibilities

• Observes activities to detect theft, fraud, or suspicious activity and collects investigative evidence.
• Executes required investigation routines to identify and resolve theft and documents all stages.
• Conducts external interviews with customers and contractors suspected of theft.
• Reports suspected fraud and policy infractions to AP and Store leadership.
• Creates and manages records for apprehension, witness statements, retention of evidence, and disposition of recovered merchandise.
• Collects evidence and monitors associate activity as needed for investigations and serves as interview witness.
• Proactively identifies potential theft and fraud by observing activity and referrals.
• Investigates suspicious behavior and documents findings.
• Attends court hearings as required and maintains relationships with local law enforcement.
• Travels to stores as necessary.
• Analyzes intelligence on individuals and booster groups involved in theft.
