Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of restructuring and turnaround engagements, including debtor-side and UCC advisory assignments.
  • Develop and maintain complex three-statement financial models, liquidity forecasts, cash flow analyses, and scenario analyses.
  • Analyze company performance, capital structures, debt documents, and business plans to identify risks and strategic alternatives.
  • Assist in the preparation of restructuring plans, recovery analyses, creditor presentations, board materials, and other client deliverables.
  • Evaluate strategic alternatives, including recapitalizations, debt restructurings, distressed M&A, and Chapter 11 reorganizations.
  • Conduct valuation analyses using DCF, comps, precedents, and recovery-based approaches.
  • Support stakeholder communications and negotiations with management, lenders, creditors, legal counsel, and other parties.

About the Firm & Role

A leading restructuring and special situations advisory firm is seeking a Senior Associate to join its New York office. The team advises companies, creditors, lenders, and other stakeholders facing complex operational, liquidity, and capital structure challenges. This position offers significant exposure to both debtor-side restructuring engagements and Unsecured Creditor Committee (UCC) mandates across a variety of industries.

The Senior Associate will play an integral role in transaction execution, financial analysis, stakeholder negotiations, and the development of restructuring solutions. The role provides direct interaction with senior leadership, clients, legal advisors, lenders, and other constituents throughout the restructuring process.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of restructuring and turnaround engagements, including both debtor-side and UCC advisory assignments.
  • Develop and maintain complex three-statement financial models, liquidity forecasts, cash flow analyses, and scenario analyses.
  • Analyze company performance, capital structures, debt documents, and business plans to identify risks and strategic alternatives.
  • Assist in the preparation of restructuring plans, recovery analyses, creditor presentations, board materials, and other client deliverables.
  • Evaluate strategic alternatives, including recapitalizations, debt restructurings, distressed M&A transactions, and Chapter 11 reorganizations.
  • Conduct valuation analyses using a variety of methodologies, including discounted cash flow, comparable company, precedent transaction, and recovery-based approaches.
  • Support stakeholder communications and negotiations with management teams, lenders, creditors, legal counsel, and other parties involved in restructuring situations.
  • Perform industry, company, and competitive research to support client recommendations.
  • Manage workstreams and coordinate with junior team members to ensure timely and accurate execution of client engagements.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience in restructuring advisory, investment banking, or corporate finance.
  • Strong financial modeling capabilities, including extensive three-statement modeling experience.
  • Experience building liquidity models, cash flow forecasts, operating models, and valuation analyses.
  • Exposure to distressed situations, debt structures, bankruptcy processes, creditor advisory, or special situations is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting, corporate finance, and capital markets concepts..
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
