Total Restoration Industries LLC is seeking an experienced Restoration Estimator to prepare accurate, detailed estimates and bills for residential and commercial water, fire, mold, and asbestos restoration projects.
This role requires strong Xactimate skills, a thorough understanding of restoration services, and the ability to turn field documentation into a complete, well-supported bill. The Estimator works closely with Project Managers, Project Directors, management, and Accounts Receivable to ensure all services performed are accurately documented, billed, and supported throughout the insurance review and settlement process.
Key Responsibilities
Estimate and Bill Preparation
- Prepare and revise Xactimate estimates, final bills, supplements, and time-and-materials billing for water mitigation, fire and smoke restoration, mold remediation, asbestos abatement, contents services, and related work.
- Review project scopes, sketches, measurements, photographs, videos, moisture readings, drying logs, equipment records, labor records, and subcontractor invoices.
- Use Docusketch sketches and ESX files to develop accurate estimates and verify room dimensions and quantities.
- Ensure estimates reflect the work performed, equipment used, labor required, materials consumed, and applicable vendor services.
- Identify missing documentation, unbilled services, scope discrepancies, and other items requiring clarification before billing.
- Write clear line-item notes and supporting explanations to substantiate charges.
Insurance Review and Settlement
- Communicate with insurance adjusters, consultants, and other claim representatives regarding submitted estimates and bills.
- Respond to questions, reconcile estimate differences, and provide supporting documentation for disputed charges.
- Prepare supplements and revisions when additional work or documentation supports an adjustment.
- Work toward timely, appropriate settlements within company approval guidelines and elevate unresolved disputes to management.
Internal Coordination and File Management
- Coordinate with field teams to resolve documentation gaps and confirm project details.
- Maintain accurate estimating notes, correspondence, file statuses, and next steps in Xcelerate.
- Organize and maintain estimate files, ESX files, and supporting documentation in designated company systems.
- Manage assigned workloads, meet deadlines, and communicate delays or obstacles promptly.
- Coordinate with Accounts Receivable on agreed billing amounts and settlement details.
Qualifications
- Prior experience preparing restoration estimates and bills in Xactimate.
- Strong working knowledge of water mitigation, fire and smoke restoration, and mold remediation; asbestos estimating experience preferred.
- Ability to independently review field documentation and develop a complete, defensible estimate.
- Understanding of restoration equipment, drying procedures, labor requirements, demolition, cleaning methods, and subcontracted services.
- Experience communicating with insurance adjusters and resolving estimate discrepancies.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, written communication, and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines with limited supervision.
- Experience with Xcelerate, CompanyCam, and Docusketch preferred.
- Xactimate certification and relevant IICRC certifications preferred.
