POSITION:
We are looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals according to the menu. You will cook dishes that will delight our customers with their taste and timely delivery. The Cook II is responsible for assisting the Sous Chef & Chef with supervision of Level 1 Cooks, preparation, and presentation of daily menus (especially high-quality specials, soups, stews, and chilies), and assisting servers with restocking and service at busy stations.
SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 years of kitchen experience is required.
- Maintain open, constructive communication with kitchen personnel.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and cooperative nature with staff, supervisors, and guests.
- Follow directions from supervisors and ask questions if unclear.
- Remain composed under stressful situations involving work, employees, or guests.
- Report complaints or problems to your supervisor for resolution.
- Capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Willing to work flexible schedules, including holidays and weekends.
- Obtain and maintain necessary licenses/certifications such as Food Handler's Permit and Sips and Tips.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
FOOD PREPARATION:
- Ensure all dishes are flavorful and meet high standards, adhering to production and time constraints.
- Season preparations fully; all should be tasted by the Sous Chef or Chef before service.
FOOD PRESENTATION:
- Keep service lines spotless; change pans as needed.
- Stock and garnish food selections appropriately; ensure sufficient mise-en-place for the day.
- Attend to details diligently.
GUEST SERVICE:
- Be prompt, friendly, and efficient.
- Assist servers during busy times to expedite guest flow; greet guests politely and inquire how to assist.
- Use suggestive selling techniques.
SAFETY, CLEANLINESS, AND ORGANIZATION:
- Operate equipment safely; handle knives and tools properly.
- Work cooperatively with stewards; request assistance politely when needed.
- Report injuries immediately; work safely to prevent accidents.
- Clean and break down lines quickly after service.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in work and service areas, including walk-in coolers.
- Store and rotate food properly to ensure freshness and reduce waste.
- Label and store leftovers appropriately.
- Complete daily inventories before shift end.
