Job summary

21c Museum Hotels is seeking a friendly and professional Restaurant Host in Durham to welcome guests, seat them, and provide a first-class dining experience. The role requires flexible hours, strong English communication, and a welcoming appearance.

You will be responsible for greeting guests, explaining menu items, and maintaining a clean dining area while supporting other positions as needed. OpenTable experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
• Must be able to speak, read, and understand English.
• Demonstrates enthusiasm for all things 21c.
• Must pass a background check.
• Professional appearance and reliable punctuality required.
• Basic math skills for handling guest transactions.

Responsibilities

• Know at least 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 3 desserts and explain them to guests.
• Reports to work on time and ready to work scheduled shifts.

• Fill in for multiple positions as needed.
• Deliver prompt, accurate reports of all income received during shifts.

Dining Room Manager & General Manager

General Purpose:

The restaurant Host is the first employee to interact with arriving guests as they enter the restaurant. It is the job of the Host to greet arriving guests, welcome them into the establishment and seat them. The guests receive their first impression of the restaurant in their exchange with the Host.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Understands he/she is the first impression of guests whether at the door or on the phone and behaves in accordance with high standards set by restaurant reputation.
• Maintains a positive, friendly attitude with co-workers and guests at all time.
• Knows at least 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 3 desserts and can explain them to a guest/caller.
• Reports to work on time and ready to work scheduled shift.
• Maintains a clean, orderly appearance of the restaurant service area.
• Fills in for multiple positions as needed.
• Delivers a prompt, accurate report of all income received during shifts worked.
