Job description

Thompson Houston is now recruiting for a Line Cook 2 - Intermediate to join our hotel team as we launch a new destination restaurant concept within Thompson Houston Hotel. This position is available immediately and will be part of a new restaurant relaunch this summer. The venue features a 3-meal dining concept, an expanded 1-acre pool deck with luxury cabanas, private event spaces, indoor-outdoor dining areas, and views of downtown. Managed by Thompson Houston Hotel and Hyatt Hotels Corporation, we are hiring for all restaurant positions, both front and back of house.

At Hyatt, we prioritize caring and attentive associates who provide efficient service and meaningful experiences to our guests.

The intermediate line cook should possess good communication and culinary skills, with hotel cooking experience and a culinary degree preferred. Candidates should have professional knowledge of cooking ingredients and procedures and be capable of working single-station in the kitchen.

Responsibilities include preparing braised foods, grilling, broiling, blanching, cooking, and sautéing. Additional duties involve preparing daily specials, checking food quality, ensuring efficient preparation methods, receiving products from the storeroom, and supporting training and development for Cook 1. This role offers a valuable opportunity for those aspiring to pursue professional careers and leadership roles in the culinary industry.

Qualifications
  • Refined verbal communication skills
  • 2 years of previous line experience preferred
  • Culinary degree or related hotel experience preferred
  • Ability to perform all basic cooking skills
  • Ability to work at a single station in the kitchen
  • Strong desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods
