Restaurant & Bakery Host/Cashier/Greeter

Summary of Position

Provides friendly, efficient service to guests according to company policies, procedures, and standards. Performs duties to maximize guest satisfaction and maintain a positive work environment as directed by the Manager on Duty. Manages the flow of business in the dining room to ensure guests feel welcome and comfortable. Checks out guests at the register and ensures their dining experience is highly satisfactory.

Position Activities and Tasks

• Host Activities and Guest Interaction
• Reports to work well-groomed, in proper uniform, and practices good personal hygiene.
• Opens doors for guests entering and leaving.
• Uses greeting, seating, and waiting list procedures; seats guests in a friendly and timely manner, in person or on the phone.
• Anticipates and corrects system issues to maximize guest satisfaction.
• Completes wait sheets.
• Greets and seats guests, making a positive first impression, and describes features like the soup of the day.
• Handles cash at checkout, asks about their experience, thanks guests, and invites them to return.
• Moves through the dining room to assist guests, ensuring they have everything needed, and makes them feel special.
• Sells bakery items and packages take-out orders efficiently.
• Maintains cleanliness of the cashier area, bakery cases, displays, lobby, entryway, restrooms, and dining room throughout the shift.
• Ensures menus are clean.

Assist Crew Members

• Processes to-go orders.
• Assists servers with pre-bussing and guest needs.
• Sweeps floors around tables.
• Performs side work during downtime, such as restocking and bussing.
• Supports servers and bus persons to meet service standards.
• Ensures guest satisfaction on every visit.
• Communicates issues to management and suggests solutions.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Standing and walking up to 8 hours.
• Good vision at various distances and peripheral awareness.
• Clear communication skills.
• Exposure to heat, steam, smoke, cold.
• Reaching heights of about 6 feet, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Mobility and flexibility in space.
• Time management skills.
• Ability to read, write, perform basic calculations, and operate equipment.

Supervision and Knowledge

Receives guidance from the Manager on Duty. Basic skills in sanitation, safety, and customer service can be taught in-house. No prior experience required.

Additional Information

Position compensation ranges from $11.13 to $12.50 per hour. Locations include East 2nd Street Superior, WI; Big Lake Road Cloquet, MN; Miller Hill Mall Duluth, MN.
