Job summary

Select Medical's Respiratory Therapy Manager/Respiratory Therapist role at Select Specialty Hospital in Des Moines seeks a seasoned RRT to oversee the respiratory department, mentor staff, and ensure high-quality patient care in a post‑ICU setting.

You will collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer, drive regulatory compliance, manage staffing and education, and lead clinical excellence through staff development and processes.

Qualifications

• Current State License required.
• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from NBRC required.
• BLS certification required by start date.
• ACLS within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the respiratory therapy department, including staff interviews, orientation, performance evaluations, and training.
• Maintain regulatory compliance for respiratory care and point-of-care activities.
• Coordinate with pulmonary physicians and participate in Wean Team/Pulmonary rounds.
• Support staffing, scheduling, cost controls, and professional development.
• Provide education to patients, families, and staff; ensure competency in rapid response and codes.
