Job summary

FutureCare is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our nursing team on-site. You will perform respiratory care procedures under physician orders, monitor ventilators, obtain blood gases, and administer therapies.

The role includes documenting care, educating residents and staff, and contributing to resident-centered treatment plans. The position requires Maryland licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, at least 1 year of clinical experience, and current CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Current licensure from Maryland as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Minimum of 1 year clinical respiratory experience.
• Current CPR training with recertification every two years.
• Ability to communicate in English (written and verbal).
• Ability to lift at least 35 pounds and move residents.

Responsibilities

• Accept and transcribe verbal/telephone orders for respiratory procedures.
• Initiate, monitor, manage, and wean residents from ventilators as ordered.
• Obtain blood gas samples and perform pulmonary function testing.
• Provide chest physiotherapy and administer inhaled medications.
• Manage artificial airway care and suctioning as needed.
• Document ventilator settings and patient responses to therapy.
• Provide education and in-service training to residents, families, and staff.
• Present shift reports and participate in performance improvement activities.
