Job summary

FutureCare is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to deliver personalized treatment plans for residents, under medical direction, as part of the nursing team. You will perform respiratory procedures, monitor patients, and document care according to policy.

Qualifications

• Current licensure from the state of Maryland as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Minimum of 1-year clinical respiratory experience
• Current CPR training with recertification every two years
• Must show recognition of and attention to the psychosocial needs of residents
• Ability to communicate using English language in written and verbal form
• Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds
• Must be able to push, pull, and lift residents

Responsibilities

• Accept and transcribe verbal and telephone orders from physician on respiratory therapy procedures
• Initiate, monitor, manage, troubleshoot, maintain, and wean residents from mechanical ventilators
• Perform chest physiotherapy, including therapeutic percussion, vibration, and bronchopulmonary drainage
• Perform pulmonary function testing, oxygen, aerosol, and humidification administration
• Manage artificial airway, tracheostomy care, changes, weaning and suctioning of airway
• Aerosolized medication administration and inhaler use
• Provide education and in-service training to residents, families, nursing staff
• Document ventilator settings and patient responses to therapy
• Review data and discuss abnormal findings with Supervisor
• Maintain equipment operation and report malfunctions
