Job summary

Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas, TX is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide respiratory care and diagnostic services for adults and neonates. The role includes ABG, PFTs, and ventilator support under indirect supervision, with a diverse patient population and alignment to departmental policies.

Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program, hold BLS and ACLS, and obtain NRP/PALS within 1 year.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification is required.
• NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months of respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and ECGs.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation with bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and chart review.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets chest X-ray, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient data.
• Sets up, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers and gas delivery devices.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of all cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Utilizes patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
• Performs other job duties as required.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program

Current Basic Life Support certification

Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification

NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support

Texas Medical Board Respiratory Care Practitioner license

Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care

At least 6 months respiratory care experience
