Job summary

Methodist Southlake Medical Center in North Texas is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to perform ABG sampling, PFTs and various ventilator and airway therapies for adults and neonates, under the department's medical director. You will assess and treat patients across age groups and follow established policies and procedures.

Required: graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program, BLS and ACLS, NRP/PALS within 12 months of hire, Texas license as a Respiratory Care

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support— must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, incentive spirometry, airway maintenance and chest physiotherapy.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, PFTs and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation with bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and chart review.
• Utilizes critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators and gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
