Job summary

Vibra Healthcare is seeking a Respiratory Practitioner to provide care for adult and geriatric patients, operate ventilators, and conduct prescribed respiratory therapies. You will document treatments and educate patients and caregivers, with responsibilities including trach care, equipment maintenance, and reporting changes.

Licensure as a Respiratory Practitioner and BLS at hire are required, with ACLS certification due within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice by the state of employment as a Respiratory Practitioner.
• BLS upon hire and ACLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• Must maintain licenses and certification for the duration of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides care for the Adult or Geriatric patient, ages 18 years and over.
• Explain purpose and procedure of treatments, tests and equipment to the patient and properly document all education given to patient(s) and their caregivers on the patient education form in the patient’s chart.
• Conduct physician prescribed treatments including Hand Held Nebulizer Therapy and various nasal oxygen devices to administer prescribed medicinal vapors, gases, humidity, and oxygen concentrations.
• Set up, operate and monitor ventilators; participate in ventilator weaning, ensuring patient comfort and adequate ventilation.
• Record all pertinent information of treatments and patient response on respiratory care records and MARs.
• Perform trach care; change out trach tubes per policy and document changes.
• Change tubing and inline suction devices; document changes on progress notes.
• Report treatments to relief personnel and keep the primary nurse informed of changes.
• Process respiratory therapy equipment including ENT/Bronchoscope; cleaning, sterilizing, and packaging; ensure CIDEX OPA is functional.
• Perform preventative maintenance and pre-use checks on ventilators and document in cleaning log.
• Make rounds; check ventilator and oxygen equipment per shift; maintain humidifiers and suction canisters.
• Utilize respiratory therapy procedures in diagnostic studies; perform and evaluate blood gas analyses and maintain competency in device use.
