Job summary

Rutherford Regional Health System is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a PRN schedule. The role involves delivering prescribed respiratory therapies, monitoring patient responses, and responding to emergent situations with appropriate interventions.

Responsibilities include educating patients, collecting arterial blood samples, performing bedside EKGs, and maintaining equipment readiness while adhering to best practices and quality care standards.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's degree in respiratory therapy required.
• License: Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in state of North Carolina.
• Certifications: BCLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP required.

How you'll contribute

A Respiratory Therapist who excels in this role:

Collects arterial blood samples using a blood gas analyzer; perform bedside EKGs, and tobacco-cessation education as ordered.

• Delivers ordered respiratory therapies; monitors, records, and communicates patient condition and response to treatment.
• Responds to codes and emergent calls; assesses patient condition and provides appropriate interventions.
• Evaluates and contributes to respiratory care policies and procedures based on outcomes, research, and best practices.
• Educates patients and families on illness, treatments, device use, and community resources.
• Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory supplies and medical gas cylinders; maintains storage areas and equipment readiness.
• Disassembles, cleans, sterilizes, performs preventive maintenance, and calibrates respiratory equipment.
• Performs all responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
• Participates in performance improvement and required education.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
