Job summary

Rutherford Regional Health System is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a full-time night shift (7p-7a) to join our Lifepoint Health network. You will provide respiratory therapies, monitor patient responses, and respond to emergent needs while upholding high-quality care standards.

This role includes education for patients and families, equipment maintenance, and participation in performance improvement initiatives. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is offered along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's degree in respiratory therapy.
• License: RRT or CRT license in North Carolina.
• Certifications: BCLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP.

Responsibilities

• Collects arterial blood samples and performs bedside EKGs as ordered.
• Delivers ordered respiratory therapies; monitors and records patient response.
• Responds to codes and emergent calls; assesses and intervenes as needed.
• Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on outcomes and best practices.
• Educates patients and families on illness, treatments, device use, and resources.
• Monitors and stocks respiratory supplies and maintains equipment readiness.
• Disassembles, cleans, sterilizes, maintains, and calibrates equipment.
• Performs all responsibilities to meet service levels.
• Participates in performance improvement and required education.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

How you'll contribute

• Collects arterial blood samples using a blood gas analyzer; perform bedside EKGs, and tobacco-cessation education as ordered.
• Delivers ordered respiratory therapies; monitors, records, and communicates patient condition and response to treatment.
• Responds to codes and emergent calls; assesses patient condition and provides appropriate interventions.
• Evaluates and contributes to respiratory care policies and procedures based on outcomes, research, and best practices.
• Educates patients and families on illness, treatments, device use, and community resources.
• Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory supplies and medical gas cylinders; maintains storage areas and equipment readiness.
• Disassembles, cleans, sterilizes, performs preventive maintenance, and calibrates respiratory equipment.
• Performs all responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
• Participates in performance improvement and required education.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for

• Education: Associate's degree in respiratory therapy required.
• License: Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) license in state of North Carolina.
• Certifications: BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP required.
