Job summary

Rutherford Regional Health System, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for night shift to join our team. The role focuses on delivering respiratory therapies, monitoring patient responses, and educating patients and families while collaborating with a bedside care team.

The position requires an Associate's degree in respiratory therapy, an active North Carolina RRT license, and BCLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP certifications.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in respiratory therapy is required.
• BCLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required.
• RRT license in state of North Carolina required.

Responsibilities

• Collect arterial blood samples and perform bedside EKGs and tobacco-cessation education as ordered.
• Deliver respiratory therapies and monitor patient response to treatment.
• Respond to codes and emergent calls with appropriate interventions.
• Educate patients and families on illness, device use, and community resources.
• Maintain respiratory supplies, equipment readiness, and perform routine maintenance.

How You'll Contribute

• Collects arterial blood samples using a blood gas analyzer; perform bedside EKGs, and tobacco-cessation education as ordered.
• Delivers ordered respiratory therapies; monitors, records, and communicates patient condition and response to treatment.
• Responds to codes and emergent calls; assesses patient condition and provides appropriate interventions.
• Evaluates and contributes to respiratory care policies and procedures based on outcomes, research, and best practices.
• Educates patients and families on illness, treatments, device use, and community resources.
• Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory supplies and medical gas cylinders; maintains storage areas and equipment readiness.
• Disassembles, cleans, sterilizes, performs preventive maintenance, and calibrates respiratory equipment.
• Performs all responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
• Participates in performance improvement and required education.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• Education: Associate's degree in respiratory therapy required.
• License: Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in state of North Carolina.
• Certifications: BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP required.
