Job summary

Rutherford Regional Health System, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our nights team in Rutherfordton, NC. This full-time position offers a 7p-7a schedule and a $7,500 sign-on bonus to eligible candidates.

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will deliver respiratory therapies, collect samples, monitor patient responses, respond to emergencies, educate patients and families, and participate in performance improvement.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's degree in respiratory therapy is required.
• License: Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) license in the state of North Carolina.
• Certifications: BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP required.

Responsibilities

• Collects arterial blood samples using a blood gas analyzer; perform bedside EKGs, and tobacco-cessation education as ordered.
• Delivers ordered respiratory therapies; monitors, records, and communicates patient condition and response to treatment.
• Responds to codes and emergent calls; assesses patient condition and provides appropriate interventions.
• Evaluates and contributes to respiratory care policies and procedures based on outcomes, research, and best practices.
• Educates patients and families on illness, treatments, device use, and community resources.
• Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory supplies and medical gas cylinders; maintains storage areas and equipment readiness.
• Disassembles, cleans, sterilizes, performs preventive maintenance, and calibrates respiratory equipment.
• Performs all responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
• Participates in performance improvement and required education.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
