Job summary

Harris Regional Hospital - A Duke LifePoint Hospital in North Carolina seeks a Respiratory Therapist for PRN/Variable shifts. You will deliver respiratory care, assess patient needs, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support high-quality outcomes.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy program, registered in North Carolina, with BLS and ACLS/PALS readiness; one year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist in North Carolina is required.
• BLS within 30 days of hire; ACLS and PALS within six months if not already certified.
• One year of experience in respiratory care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
• Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
• Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance.
• Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
• Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
• Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
• Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.

How You'll Contribute

What We're Looking For

Applicants should be a graduate of a school of Respiratory Therapy and be a registered Respiratory Therapist In North Carolina. Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred
• ACLS certification preferred
