Job summary

Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist 2 to join our experienced team. This full-time role offers 36 hours per week with weekend coverage from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, and includes a sign-on and relocation bonus.

As a frontline clinician, you will manage basic and advanced ventilator support, assess patients, and collaborate with physicians and nurses to deliver high‑quality respiratory care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited CoARC respiratory care program.
• Six months in a critical care environment or one year of specialized training in advanced diagnostics/pulmonary rehabilitation.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or 10+ years as a Certified Respiratory Therapist per NBRC.
• ACLS, PALS or NRP certifications required or must obtain within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and manages basic mechanical ventilation with common ventilators; high proficiency with occasional supervision.
• Weaning mechanics with high proficiency in >90% of ventilator patients.
• Reviews ongoing ventilator needs; develops ventilator care plans with the team.
• Formulates plans based on patient data and responses to therapy; ensures alignment with standards.
• Administers advanced respiratory therapies (e.g., heliox, nitric oxide) with moderate proficiency.
