Job summary

Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist 2 to join our team. This full-time role is 36 hours per week, with weekend shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

A sign-on and relocation bonus are available as part of our commitment to attracting top talent. As a member of our respiratory care team, you will deliver ventilation support, participate in weaning, and coordinate with the patient care team to optimize outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited CoARC respiratory care program.
• Six months in a critical care environment or one year of specialized training in advanced diagnostics/pulmonary rehabilitation as a practicing Respiratory Therapist.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or 10+ years NBRC experience; Advanced Certifications (ACLS, PALS or NRP) or must obtain within one year of hire.
• Basic Life Support from AHA upon start.
• Licensed Respiratory Therapist and eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and manages basic mechanical ventilation with common ventilators; high proficiency with supervision.
• Performs weaning mechanics with high proficiency in more than 90% of ventilated patients.
• Reviews need for continuing ventilator support daily with high proficiency; develops/refines ventilator care plans.
• Formulates a plan of care based on diagnostics data and response to therapy; ensures plans align with standards.
• Administers advanced respiratory interventions (e.g., heliox, nitric oxide, CNB, Chest Wall Oscillation) with moderate proficiency.
