Job summary

Shaker Gardens Care Community is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to assess and treat residents with breathing disorders. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care and maintain a safe environment for our residents.

The role includes planning therapy services, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with state guidelines. A license to practice is required, and ongoing professional development is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in this state.
• Must understand the English language.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action in a timely fashion.
• Must be knowledgeable of supply practices, procedures, and guidelines.
• Must possess the ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc.
• Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct our Facility's respiratory therapy, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern nursing care facilities.
• Meet with administration, medical and nursing staff, as well as other related departments in planning therapy services.
• Provide emergency care including artificial respiration, external cardiac massage, and assistance with CPR.
• Perform pulmonary function and adjust equipment to obtain optimum results during therapy.
• Develop work assignments and schedule duty hours in conjunction with the Administrator.
• Develop, maintain, and periodically update the written procedure for ensuring that professional respiratory personnel have valid and current licenses as required by this state in conjunction with the Administrator.
