Piqua Care Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our team. You will assess, treat, and care for residents with breathing disorders, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care.

In this role you will help develop respiratory therapy plans, ensure safety standards, mentor staff and students, and participate in ongoing education to align with our Smarter. Long-Term. Care philosophy.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in this state.
• Must understand the English language.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action in a timely fashion.
• Must be knowledgeable of supply practices, procedures, and guidelines.
• Must possess the ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc.
• Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct respiratory therapy programs in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines.
• Meet with administration and staff to plan therapy services.
• Represent the Facility at meetings and participate as directed.
• Maintain respiratory therapy standards of practice.
• Assist in standardizing methods for delivering respiratory therapy.
• Assist in developing and coordinating policies, procedures, and resident care plans.
• Review respiratory therapy policies and participate in updates.
• Determine staffing needs for the respiratory therapy department with the Administrator.
• Recruit and select competent respiratory therapy personnel with HR.
• Provide guidance and training for staff and students.
• Develop work assignments and schedule duty hours with the Administrator.
• Ensure licenses are current and compliant.
• Provide emergency care including CPR and related procedures.
• Perform pulmonary function tests and adjust equipment as needed.
• Conduct bronchopulmonary drainage and breathing exercises training.
• Conduct respiratory tests to evaluate residents’ function.
• Review orders for respiratory therapy services.
• Assist physicians in research and diagnosis related to respiratory disorders.
• Develop in-service education programs and orientation for new personnel.
• Maintain an effective orientation program for department staff.
• Participate in departmental studies and workshops to stay current.
• Assist in developing safety standards for the respiratory therapy department.
• Ensure adherence to policies for residents and staff.
• Support infection control practices and aseptic techniques.
• Ensure availability of PPE for procedures.
• Prepare and operate respiratory therapy devices and maintain equipment.
• Inspect and maintain equipment for safe operation.
• Make emergency visits to resolve equipment problems.
• Advise on equipment and supply needs.
